Credit hire: Right to cancel and cancellation notices

The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 were laid before Parliament on 13th December and will come into force on 13th June 2014.  The regulations will bring UK law into line with the EU Consumer Rights Directive.  The regulations will supersede the Cancellation of Contracts made in a Consumer’s Home or Place of Work etc. Regulations 2008.  Consumers of vehicle rental services are no longer entitled to a right to cancel, where the contract provides for a specific period of performance (section 28(1)(h)).   Read the regulations (opens in pdf), and the guidance (opens in pdf – section B covers exemptions).
