Insurance: Riot (Damages) Act 1886
The government has announced that it will launch a public consultation into the Riot (Damages) Act 1886 by the end of the year. The announcement follows on from the review carried out by Neil Kinghan at the behest of the Home Office. Kinghan has expressed the view that the Act should be replaced with a new version in which the police would continue to be liable under the Act and for the inclusion of damage to cars and other vehicles. For further information read the government announcement and the Kinghan review.
