Fraud: Local Authority insurance claims

The Audit Commission reports that the number of fraudulent insurance claims (including personal injury) faced by councils for 2012/13 fell to 74 cases, from a figure of 132 for 2011/12.  However, the total value of those cases rose from £2 million to £3 million (or from £15,152 per case to £40,541 per case).  Read the Commission’s report and the “Fighting Fraud Checklist for Governance”.
