Personal injury: New 12th edition published

Guidelines for the Assessment of General Damages

The latest (12th) edition of the Judicial College Guidelines for the Assessment of General Damages has just been published.

The new edition is fully updated to:

  • take account of inflation since the last edition

  • reflect decisions of the higher courts on quantum and

  • include an additional column of figures to show the value of an award both with and without the 10% uplift in general damages recommended by Sir Rupert Jackson and endorsed by the Court of Appeal in Simmons v Castle [2012].

DWF will be shortly publishing an update highlighting the main changes to the Guidelines.
